It Worked! Six Pounds Lighter!

It worked!  I'm six pounds lighter after starting the Four-Day Wonder Diet Monday.  YAY!

It's just the jump start I need; now, if I just stay mindful I can keep myself on track and feel svelte enough to don a bathing suit when I head to Florida at the end of the month.

I can see that there's plenty of encouragement out there . . . every magazine I pick up and every website I visit has tons of great recipes and tips for eating healthy and shaving calories.  Foodista  even had an article about these funny "Intervention" plates that just might be the reminder I need!

So today, in spite of my strong desire to have peanut butter toast for breakfast, I still had half a grapefruit and a bowl of cereal with skim milk.  But plenty of coffee.  For lunch there will be a pear and chicken noodle soup.  For dinner, broiled fish with rice and spinach.  Nothing fancy . . . yet.  I just don't want to lose the momentum.  But the weekend does hold a couple parties in store so I need to keep myself in check.

Best thing?  I feel great!

  7. That's awesome!! Sometimes it's those first few pounds that are the hardest, but once they come off it's so motivating. I find the easiest way to eat less, is to use a salad plate as a dinner plate. I can easily get seconds if I'm still hungry, but I'm usually not.

  10. Congratulations Rosemary. How lovely to start the new year, 6lbs lighter. I'm afraid to hop on the scales as I fear I might have started 2012 6 lbs heavier. I need to step away from the pastries and towards the fruit bowl!

  14. I did this diet in high school and just decided MANY years later to give it a shot before I go on a trip in one month to see old friends. How to stay on it??? Go to google... found your write-ups.
Delighted to stumble on your encouraging and inspiring posts about the 4-Day Wonder! Thanks for being a bloggy person.

PS This really is the best diet ever if you need a big kick-start or a quick fix of those pesky five-ten. Maybe it will come back in vogue if there are two of us who kept the book all these years there must be more!

    1. I've been using it for years to keep my weight in check, especially after the holidays or before a vacation! It's worked well for me, never went out of fsahion, so I'm not changing a thing.

  15. Can I substitute the lamb for something else?

    1. Yes . . . you can substitute a lean hamburger patty, or a 3-4 ounce piece of steak, or even the same amount of plainly cooked chicken. The point here, I believe, is getting the protein in the mix at this point in the diet. (I happen to love lamb!)

I realize you don't have to take the time to comment . . . but it makes my day! So glad you decided to stay.
